An Unhappy Client Can Kill Your Reputation in 6 Months or Less

Ian Watt video blogs about how many realtors make their clients ride out the full listing term, even if their clients are terribly unhappy with their realtors service. Every month Ian Watt gets emails from people who are desperately trying to cancel the listing agreement and sign with a new realtor but some realtors won't let you get out of the contract unless you pay them huge sums of money. This is not blackmail because a Contract is a Contract but as we all know with the internet, an unhappy client can kill your reputation in less than 6 months. If you want to voice your opinion or if you don't care for Ian's comments please email your feedback to ianwatt@ianwatt.ca and visit http://www.ianwatt.ca/RealEstateVideos for all the Ian Watt Real Estate Video Blogs.

Ian Watt: Hi Good Afternoon, It's Ian Watt in Downtown Vancouver. I blogged about this before but it seems to come up every month. Every month I get an email from people regarding their contracts and their realtors and unfortunately I can't do anything to help them because they are under contract with another brokerage. The situation is that both parties the realtor and the client seem to be very unhappy with each other, they're not communicating and the relationship is just broken. And what happens when its broken is property will probably never sell. So this guy emails me and he wants to get out of the contract but unfortunately the realtor is say: you know what pay me three grand and I'll let you out or you can just stick throughout with me until March 2010. It is such an unfortunate situation it's very short sided of this realtor because you know what? people don't wanna work with me I'm happy to let them go because in six months the amount of damage that an unhappy client can do to your online reputation is so profound. You will not be able to regain that that hold you have for your own reputation and your own name. It's too bad that this people are so short sided. In my contracts I always write into the last page: the seller may cancel with the unconditional release at any time. And that is so important just to have that freedom. If people don't wanna work with me I don't wanna work with them I sound like a broken record I blogged about that before but it's so unfortunate because this client is unhappy and the realtor is unhappy. The property will never sell and the realtor could probably get trash online because of this whole situation. Contract is a contract but sometimes it's better just to walk away. My name is Ian Watt and if you have any questions. you can always email me at ianwatt@ianwatt.ca. Thank you very much and have a great day!
