Ian Watt: Hi good afternoon! It's Ian Watt in Downtown Vancouver. Today I spent the morning at the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver. Talking about Web 2.0 and how basically how the Real Estate Board has to learn about it. What they, we sat down chatted there all open eyes, open ears, open arms. They were very excited and a great discussion. They recommend it and I called the Real Estate Council and I spoke with Anthony Cavanaugh and I was speaking with Anthony on the phone and he say well this is a bit of a lie or low priority. Why don't you send an email explaining why you want to talk about Web 2.0. Rather than sending an email, I'm gonna send this video blog over the Anthony and he can pass it around to his office. See the problem I have with the Real Estate Council right now on their lack of attention to Web 2.0 is that Web 2.0 is so prominent yet our rules don't really talk about the problems that may arise. Now I've mention this before and in other video blogs but this is kind of interesting on one hand we had advertising. There's strict rules for advertising and is as far as the council concern. On the other hand we have communication. Communication in advertising are totally different. Somewhere in between is marketing. But what I wear this black shirt. I wear in every single
one of the video blogs that is marketing. That's not advertising. That's not communication it's somewhere in between. Now the problem arises that when I do this twitter things they are communications. That's not advertising however, the Real Estate Council thinks it is. So what I have to do is explain that my video blogs are communication not advertising. There's a great area in between and that's were a lot of people don't realize there can be problems. So what I would like to do with the Real Estate Council is sat down with them, talk about it. Open up a discussion so when they form this new strata gist, new laws, new plans for Web 2.0 they actually know what they're talking about. So Anthony Cavanaugh I ask you to please set up an open discussions. So we can talk about Web 2.0 and how it's affecting our Real Estate business. My name is Ian Watt. You can always email me at ianwatt@ianwatt.ca. Thank you very much and have a great day!
