Some Clients Are Just Not Meant To Work With Ian Watt And Vice Versa

Ian Watt video blogs about how there are 10,000 realtors in the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver and finding the right realtor for you is like finding a doctor or a hairdresser you need to find someone who has the skills, you feel confident in, and who can ultimately get the job done for you. Ian Watt: Hi good afternoon it's Ian Watt in Downtown Vancouver. I've got about firing clients before being fired before. However I think it's something that we should all think about when hiring a realtor. There's 10,000 realtors in the Greater Vancouver Real Estate Board and that's not including the Fraser Valley. I think, I think I was told there was almost 17,000 in the province. Nonetheless, there a lot of choices out there for realtors and I was think that finding a realtors kind a like finding a doctor or a hair dresser it's got to be someone you know you have confidence in and somebody who get along with and somebody you trust and I think those things are very important when your finding a realtor cause there's so many realtors out there and they have all different styles. Now I had a client and a little bit of a problematic client and she kept even on the listing she ex out a whole bunch of staff on the listing contract that she didn't like however this listing contract is prepared by the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver and all their lawyers as well. So we can't really x out anything because all those closes in there to protect the buyer, the seller, the real estate offices and the realtors as well. So it's all put in there and then we can fill in the blanks and alter a few things and add to it but we can't really subtract to it I'm not gonna work under contract that leads me vulnerable as well. And I'm not saying it's a privilege to work with me but I'm saying everyone's got a respect everybody so she's started x'ing things out on the listing red flag, new something that gonna go wrong from there on and then when offers came in she kept changing things without consulting with me her realtor. And I'm representing her, I'm defending her. She changed all this different things. She's not a lawyer, she's not a realtor so I don't know why she thinks she should change all this without talking to me. It's very important that two people on the same team are on the same page. So she's done this and it looks like we've lost this offer because of all this extra information she added which didn't really make sense what so ever and confused the buyer and the buyer's realtor as well we tried to cross it out I said you know this is the way it is. But eventually we got to a point were I just had to say here it is here's the cancellation obviously we can't work together and that's very important. It's important that we be true to ourselves and be true to our clients. If I cannot work with this person I'm not gonna do a great job for them so I offer them the opportunity to fire me. And that's what happens we have to be on the same page or somebody's gonna lose a lot of money. My name is Ian Watt and if you have any questions. You can always email me at ianwatt@ianwatt.ca. Thank you very much and have a great day!
